The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) is partnering with Restore or Retreat to offer “Community Conversations” dinner meetings to discuss the 2017 Coastal Master Plan draft update, which is currently still being developed. Several meetings are being held throughout October in various parishes along the coast.
These conversational meetings allow the public to be involved in the draft’s development by offering valuable feedback to CPRA. The official updated draft is set to be released in early January 2017.
The Community Conversation meetings will begin with an open house in which citizens can engage with CPRA team members and ask questions. CPRA will then give a brief presentation about the development process for the Master Plan as well as developing the updated draft plan. The public can then engage in round table discussions with other community members. CPRA will be listening to these discussions for consideration in the development of the draft plan.
These community conversations are important for CPRA to hear BEFORE release of the draft plan so that public concerns and comments can be considered during the development process. These meetings allow community members to engage in real conversations rather than the typical 3 minute commentary that is allowed at the official public hearings after the release.
The following meetings in October will be available for you to attend and be part of the development of the updated draft plan. Please RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
